- What is this site?
- This site is a moderated fan fiction archive featuring stories set within the fantasy universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien.
- Who are you?
- We're the Henneth Annûn Story Archive (better known as HASA), an enthusiastic group of JRRT fanfic lovers from all around the world. Many of us are writers, a large number are readers and reviewers. We have a growing and very active membership.
- Why did you create this site?
- This site was created to provide a single location on the web to find a large amount of quality JRRT fan fiction writing. There are many small sites that have wonderful selections, but are unable to expand due to time and technology constraints. Other sites have sophisticated posting tools, but allow anyone to post anything, resulting in large amounts of postings that are not always of good quality.
- What is here?
- We allow almost any type or genre of writing, as long as it is A) primarily concerned with the JRRT fantasy universe and B) judged by a panel of reviewers to be an interesting, well-written story. We accept poetry and critical essays as well as the more usual fiction. All rating levels of stories are accepted, and stories are flagged as General or Adult depending upon content. Lists, Mystery Science Theater (MST), and Real Person Stories (RPS) are the only types we categorically will not accept.
- How do stories get posted here?
- HASA members can post anything at all in the Members area, in any stage of completion. To appear on the public side, the members submit the story for a review by a panel of other members. If the story gets a majority "Yes", it is published to the public. You do not have to submit any story to review unless you want to. The majority of stories on HASA appear only to members.
- Can I directly post stories for myself, like I can at other sites?
- No. Because this is a moderated archive, there are no direct author postings. Even our own members have to put their stories up for review and approval! By keeping this a moderated site, we can make sure the quality of the stories is fairly high. The bottom line is quality - good stories in a pleasant reading environment.
- Why are you passing judgment on other peoples' stories?
- When anyone reads a story, they pass judgment on it - I like it, I don't like it. What we do at HASA is say "Here are stories a number of our members liked a great deal. We think you will like them, too!" The only judgment being made is if we think it is a good story. We do not allow negative statements, reviews, or flames about stories to appear publicly on this site.
- How do I join HASA?
- Go to this page and sign up. You must be at lest 13 years of age to join HASA.
- Does it cost me anything to join?
- NO! HASA does not charge anything to join. We are trying our best to provide an ad-free, spam-free, all-free site for all users. Running a site like this does cost money, so we accept donations. At this time, all of our costs are covered by donations from generous users.
- My friend doesn't have an internet connection/doesn't want to join HASA. Can I submit for him/her?
- If you are a member, you may nominate your friend's story. While most stories are written by HASA members, there are many good stories by people who have no interest in joining the site. In these cases, any HASA member in good standing may nominate the story for review and inclusion.
