Description:

Mirabella Brandybuck was born as Mirabella Took, the youngest of the three daughters of Gerontius Took and Adamanta Chubb; she is the Mistress of Brandy Hall, the aunt of Bilbo Baggins, the grandmother of Frodo Baggins, the great-grandmother of Meriadoc Brandybuck, and the great-grandaunt of Peregrin Took:
[Said] the Gaffer[,] 'You see: Mr. Drogo [Baggins], he married poor Miss Primula Brandybuck. She was our Mr. Bilbo's first cousin on the mother's side (her mother being the youngest of the Old Took's daughters).... And Mr. Drogo was staying at Brandy Hall with his father-in-law, old Master Gorbadoc, as he often did after his marriage (him being partial to his vittles, and old Gorbadoc keeping a mighty generous table); and he went out boating on the Brandywine River; and he and his wife were drownded....

'Anyway: there was this Mr. Frodo left an orphan and stranded, as you might say, among those queer Bucklanders, being brought up anyhow in Brandy Hall. A regular warren, by all accounts. Old Master Gorbadoc never had fewer than a couple of hundred relations in the place.'

The Fellowship of the Ring, LoTR Book 1, Ch 1, A Long-expected Party

[The] mother of... Bilbo Baggins... was the fabulous Belladonna Took, one of the three remarkable daughters of the Old Took, head of the hobbits who lived [in Tookland].... It was often said (in other families) that long ago one of the Took ancestors must have taken a fairy wife. That was... absurd, but certainly there was still something not entirely hobbit-like about them, — and once in a while members of the Took-clan would go and have adventures. They discreetly disappeared, and the family hushed it up; but the fact remained that the Tooks were not as respectable as the Bagginses, though they were undoubtedly richer.
