Downfall of Dol Guldur - Last war of the elves

Challenge Details

There are notes and asides in LOTR that refer to the battles between Lothlórien and Dol Guldur, of the battles under the eaves of Mirkwood.

The first assault on Lórien happens on March 11. There are two more, on March 15 and March 22. On March 15th, Thranduil repels the forces of Dol Guldur within Mirkwood.

Though grievous harm was done to the fair woods on the borders, the assaults were driven back; and when the Shadow had passed, Celeborn came forth and led the host of Lórien over Anduin in many boats. They took Dol Guldur, and Galadriel threw down its walls and laid bare its pits, and the forest was cleansed.

In the North also there had been war and evil. The realm of Thranduil was invaded, and there was long battle under the trees and great ruin of fire; but in the end Thranduil had the victory.
Appendix B, The Tale of Years

The challenge is to write an account of the battles of Lórien and the downfall of Dol Guldur, and/or the battle in Mirkwood, and/or the assault upon Imladris. It may be of any length, any genre, any rating. Can you write it as an epic poem? As the backdrop to a romance? As an action adventure thriller? As a drama of the last great battle of the elves in Middle-earth? How about writing it jointly with another HASA author? There is a Mega Challenge contained in this challenge - write about all the Elven realms in battle. This challenge will be open for all of 2003.
