Thranduil's Letter Challenge
Challenge Details
Write a story based on the opening scene below:
Thranduil looked up from the documents he was studying as there was a knock on the door and a messenger entered.
"A letter, my Lord. The courier said it was most urgent."
Curiously, for the seal was unfamiliar, Thranduil opened the message and read it swiftly. Then he read it again, more slowly, and looked at the messenger in silence for a moment before responding.
What do you think? Who is the letter from? What does it say?
Challenge closes: 10 March 2005
A note from the challenge originator, Jay of Lasgalen:
The Mirkwood Castle group, where this idea originated, was initially set up to promote Good!Thranduil stories, after we'd all read far too many where he was an abusive drunkard.
So out of respect for their principles, can I ask that there are no Evil!Thranduil stories in this challenge? I'm quite sure there wouldn't be anyway, but just thought I'd ask. Thanks.
