Bitter Valentine's Day Poetry Challenge
Challenge Details
In a perverse honoring of Valentine's Day, I give you the "Bitter Valentine's Day Poetry Challenge."
It's time to pay hommage to the unsuccessful courtships of Middle-earth. Your mission is to write the love poetry of one of the following:
Gríma Wormtongue to Éowyn
A verse spoken by Gollum to his Precious
Fëanor's sonnets to Galadriel (all rejected, of course)
Something Túrin might have composed for Anglachel
Something Maeglin might have composed for Idril (in his head)
Something Berúthiel might have composed for her cats, if she had a poetic bone in her body (she could've had one... a small one, maybe...)
Feanor to the Silmarils (you are my starshine...)
Finduilas to Turin
Eol to Aredhel
Squicked enough? There are two with great humor potential:
Morgoth to Ungoliant (or vice versa)
Lobelia to Frodo (about her unrequited desire for Bag End)
Use whatever form of poem you think is most appropriate. If you have other possibilities, be sure to mention them to me. The point is to have poetry from an obsessive character to the object of his/her obsession; fetish objects are obviously allowed and encouraged.

- (WiP) Originally meant for the "Bitter Valentines" challenge, this story grew in the telling and ended up as something that is probably not appropriate for the challenge at all. Think of it as PG Wodehouse does Middle Earth. Starring Beruthiel, her nine cats and the poetry she composes for them. Findegil has a cameo, but please don't mention the herring. By A L Milton.

- Entry for the Bitter Valentine's Day Poetry challenge. Originally written for a Lord of the Rings Improvisation on the words: shine, mud, destiny and love. Knocked out in about 10 minutes - and it shows! If I get time before the challenge closes I'll try to do some more work on it. No prizes for guessing that it's Gollum and the Ring.

- Response to the Bitter Valentine's Day Challenge. Humorous OOC. A lovesick Feanor writes some verses to Artanis. *Beware! Extremely terrible poetry inside* Partly my fault, but Feanor-in-my-head keeps reciting them.
