In The King of the Golden Hall, TT Gandalf, referring to Wormtongue, says "...it was not always as it now is. Once it was a man, and did you service in its fashion."
Other than that, all we have on the 'Worm' is that his real name is Grima, son of Galmod. Where did he come from? how did he become Sauruman's servant? What is his history?
