I like tales of intersections. Where dissimilar things collide: Elves meet Hobbits, Hobbits meet Men, Ents meet Dwarves, Northerners encounter Southern customs, Mountain folk encounter the Sea. People having to deal with something new, and perhaps be dealt with as a novelty themselves.
