OK, language buffs, which is correct:

"They looked for documents that had references to the Akallabêth."

"They looked for documents that had references to Akallabêth."

In this case, they are looking for accounts of the disaster itself, not looking for mention of accounts of the downfall.

Or i Akallabêth.

My impression, from Ardalambion, is that the written account of the event would not need a definite article preceding it (because it would be a proper noun): simply Akallabêth.
