Bergil clattered across the Court of the Fountain for the tenth time that day. Most of the pages complained about messenger duty, but he never tired of the chance to check on the progress of the White Tree. It seemed to have grown an inch or put forth new leaves or flowers every time he passed.
On this journey across the courtyard, he saw King and Steward standing by the fountain. The Lord Faramir was laughing, his face tilted upwards in the sun.
Smiling, Bergil hurried on. It was not only the White Tree that bloomed from day to day.
