Felgaund inherited the golden hair that, for the Noldor, is unique to the House of Finarfin.
Felagund is said to be "the fairest and most beloved" of the House of Finwë. (The Silmarillion, QS, Ch. 19 - 'Of Beren and Luthien')
Finrod was like his father in his fair face and golden hair, and also in noble and generous heart, though he had the high courage of the Noldor and in his youth their eagerness and unrest; and he had also from his Telerin mother a love of the sea and dreams of far lands that he had never seen." He was skilled in lighter stone-carving; hence his epesse felakgunduor felagundu, see above under Other Names. This name was often Sindarized into Felagon, and the first element associated with Sindarin fael, fair-minded. ( The Peoples of Middle-earth (HoMe 12), Last Writings, The Shibboleth of Feanor)
