Eglarest

Type: Cities, Towns, Settlements

Region: Beleriand & North

Location: The coast of Beleriand, at the mouth of the river Nenning.

Description: Situated at the mouth of the river Nenning, Eglarest was the southern of the two Havens of the Falas in Beleriand. With Brithombar to the north, Eglarest was one of the two seats of Círdan the Shipwright in Beleriand.

On the cape just west of Eglarest, between that settlement and Brithombar, Fingon built the watch tower of Barad Nimrais.

Brithombar and Eglarest both were sacked by Morgoth's forces the year after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and most of its people killed or taken into slavery; the survivors, including Círdan and the young Ereinion Gil-galad, whom Fingon had sent to the Falas for protection, evacuated to the Isle of Balar.
