Brithombar

Type: Cities, Towns, Settlements

Region: Beleriand & North

Location: On the coast of Beleriand, at the mouth of the river Brithon.

Description: Brithombar takes its name from the river Brithon, at whose head it stood. It is the northern of the two settlements of the Falathrim in Beleriand (the other being Eglarest to the south) and was ruled over by Círdan the Shipwright.

Brithombar and Eglarest both were sacked by Morgoth's forces the year after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and most of its people killed or taken into slavery; the survivors, including Círdan and the young Ereinion Gil-galad, whom Fingon had sent to the Falas for protection, evacuated to the Isle of Balar.
