Story Summary

A clash of movie verse and book verse during the scene in which Gandalf reunites with Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas in the forests of Fangorn. No real plot or purpose, but hopefully enjoyable enough to be fun in its own right.

Oh, Thundera, I just re-read "Smiting Ruin", and am laughing myself silly!

Anyone who loves wordplay and appreciates the richness of Tolkien's language will enjoy this vignette! And the humorous interplay between Gandalf and the Three Hunters is a hoot....

Some of my favorite bits:

Gandalf had not been sent back to strangle Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, but he was sorely tempted to do so anyway.

"A fortunate guess that strayed near the mark," Legolas told the dwarf archly....

"Is futile flailing another of your strange elven customs?"
