One dark AU made me think of another... You certainly have an apt hand for the short and horrific! *g*
I think the most chilling aspect of all is the deliberately casual tone that pervades the entire piece, showing how thoroughly the Ring has corrupted. Legolas and Frodo's fates chilled me the most, and what an excellent ending.

Oooh - I rediscovered this while browsing some dark AUs, and I don't think I've commented on it to you before - chills, chills. It could all happen so easily.
"As a reward, she has not clouded his mind; he alone has been allowed to keep his memories of the time before." Some reward.
And as a Legolas adorer I am perversely pleased that he could not be bought off or controlled and had to die...
