I have long loved Part I of this (and am ashamed that I don't think I've mentioned it before), and I think Part II is an excellent companion and continuation.

I love the interaction between caring, loving adults and the play-acting children in both pieces. In the first, I especially liked Imrahil's musings on Thorongil and his premonition at the end; the line Faramir, youngest champion of Gondor; and the reference to G & S that you slipped in. (A tiny note: there is one extra quote mark in the paragraph that begins with "Truly?")

In the second, Faramir's loving fatherhood was wonderful to see; the competitive nature between siblings was well-done; and the little twist on the identity of the "pirate Captain" was great. Marvelous characterizations in such short works, and a very enjoyable pair of ficlets.

Oh this is the cutest piece ever! This is full of youthfull innocence, dreaming of heroes from the past and children emerging in it completely. What I so well done in this piece specifically is the smooth transfer from the heroes that the children are playing, to their reasoning and banter... this all in two generations (Faramir as a child and later on Elberon as a child). Fabolous writing Raksha!

Thanx for your kind words, Rhapsody; I had a lot of fun writing "A Pirate's Life...".  Kids enjoy playing pirates; and I'm sure that Thorongil's duel with the corsair captain quickly became the stuff of legend and then children's games, especially with him leaving Gondor.   And I can see Imrahil enjoying playing with his nephews; and then Faramir continuing the games with his own children.

Thanx for posting such a long comment, DKP; I'm very glad you liked the linked ficlets.  And I'm glad the G&S reference worked for you; I was a bit nervous that it would interfere with the M-e setting; but I couldn't resist putting it in there. 

And I very much see small Faramir as the youngest champion of Gondor, or at least he would think of himself that way.

I'm glad you liked A Pirate's Life For Me!, DKP, and thanx much for commenting so enthusiastically!  I had a lot of time writing a happy young Faramir and later, writing him as a father enjoying playing pirates with his own kids.  I'm an only child, so I haven't had the benefit of first-hand sibling rivalry as an example, but Faramir's children more or less wrote themselves.

 And I'm so glad you liked the Gilbert & Sullivan references - I simply couldn't resist!
