Beyond the Mountain Passes

Thundera - I've only just come across this, having a browse through some Legolas-centric fics, and it's truly wonderful.
I've thought (and written) for a long time about the similarities between Legolas and Boromir, as scions of ruling houses battling the Shadow close at hand, without the benefits of Rings to sustain them (I would love to know if Thranduil *knew* that Imladris and Lothlorien had Rings, or merely suspected it... ) But I've never seen such an effective exposition of how that might lead Legolas to be tempted by the Ring.
And nor had I ever thought through how Gimli might feel about the role of the Dwarves in the fall of Gandalf - nor about the comparison between Greenwood/Mirkwood (I've always written Legolas as hating the latter name too!) and Khazad-Dum.
And your Gimli/Legolas are note-perfect.
Wonderful stuff. Thank you for such an effective and affecting piece!
