The first story I have read on this site. Failure of Duty is listed as a humorous story but I found it very touching rather than funny. Almost brought a tear to the eye at the end! An excellent story, very enjoyable.

It's rather difficult to decide precisely how to list a story such as this one. It's one I was directly challenged to write, and that I found quite fun--and definitely a challenge--to see done properly without making it too maudlin on one side or too slapstick on the other, and to keep in line with my personal storyline, which is reasonably familiar to those who have read many of my stories. I am rather glad Golden set the challenge for me, actually!
