1. I Expected........

The end, I slump upon the ground, my head bowed, an ungraceful position for a herald. Now a herald of a dead king. This victory tastes sour in my mouth, how can it be a victory after so much death. It almost feels like failure, for what really have we won?
Elendil's son now bears the One, against our will, yet we could not halt him, we are as powerless as with Sauron, and our leaders lost. I watched my King, my friend, burn in the evil one's grasp, I would have thrown myself in his place, but to Sauron I was worthless, a worm on the ground, a fish out of water. I will not fight again, war has taken from me things I held most dear. I never shall lift sword again in anger, this I swear upon the Valar. I expected victory to be somewhat different, for in victory there is joy. To me mind, there is little joy this day...........
