1. An Elf's Wish

Long have I lived, but none of my years are as vivid in my memory as the Great Years and the time that followed after. Many friends have I had, but even among my own people I have not found friends such as I did among mortals.

Always did I pity mortals their short lives. Yet now here I sit, in Valinor, but I find not peace. And I wish—oh how I wish!—for the Gift of Iluvatar. I envy Arwen her choice and mortals their fate. I wish I could follow them and not be left so alone.

Ch. 1: An Elf's Wish

Very nicely done. I just read the discourse between Arwen and Aragorn and her pity of men and the Gift. Very interesting to see this Elf's take on it.
