9. Aragorn -- Gimli

The first bloodshed of the Fellowship seems upon us. I would choose these fanged foes least of all… Yet the Dwarf, at least, seems unperturbed by their chilling calls. Erebor and the Iron Hills teem with wolves, I hear… An odd companion, yet I am comforted by his stubborn, stone-hard, grizzled countenance. He seems to watch over the Hobbits, though his stature is not much greater than theirs. He is as battle-tested, I suspect, as Legolas Greenleaf, or as Boromir, Gondor's newest Captain-General… Aye, Gloin's son, I am glad to have your sturdy axe at the ready, beside my sword.
