1. The Lament Of Glorfindel
- The Lament Of Glorfindel -
I can hear them dying still
Hear their cries against my will
Smoke and fire
Dark desire
Sold out Gondolin
Wind is howling in my ears
Dries away my salty tears
Tall I stand
Sword in my hand
Above Gondolin
Demon breath has scorched my skin
Wiped out all my friends and kin
Last ones dying
Crawling, trying
Fleeing Gondolin
Handle slippery with blood
From whose wound this crimson flood
Steals the life
In pain and strife
Of ruined Gondolin
There's no need for my defence
My resistance makes no sense
I will fall
Before the walls
Of fair Gondolin
Maeglin, I curse your name
And this beast of shade and flame
Final blow
My blood will flow
Farewell, Gondolin
Born again in Arda changed
To these times I feel estranged
Silent trees
No hope to seize
After Gondolin
You, my friend, are brave and wise
Naked truth before your eyes
Every breath
Is Elven death
I leave for Gondolin.
