5. Notes
1. Éomer Éadig
"it shall pierce me like a spear" - "Song of the Sea" (Anbthine mór ar muig Lir) ascribed to Ruman mac Colmáin. Translation by Kuno Meyer.
2. Galadriel
"azured harebells" - Shakespeare's Cymbeline.
Galadriel says to Aragorn during The Fellowship that his taking of the name Elfstone was foretold. Presumably this happened during his stay in Lórien in his youth.
3. Voronwë
"sweetness sings from every..." - "Communist Daughter" by Neutral Milk Hotel.
"countless are the branches" - Somewhat modified from Li Shangyin's "Willow", which amusingly is also alluded to by Pink Floyd.
