Hands of the King

I have to first mention that one of the little things I loved was the general assumption that Boromir would be a girl - it was nice, as a reader, to know more than the characters about something that would be harmlessly funny (or even happy) instead of the more melencholy stuff about the future of Finduilas and Denethor.
I'm glad that Denethor and Wren have made peace of a sort (and the Finduilas made sure that Wren was taken care of in a way that she would accept). And I was meanly glad when Denethor went to see Ectheleon to comply with Wren's request.
Great stuff with Denethor and Aragorn too. I'm not even sure how to comment on it except to say that it was almost amusing to see the two intelligent men alternately frustrating and helping each other.

Hi Rugi,
I'm glad you like the chapter!

Snerk! I thought it was a bit of mild comic relief. It came out of studying genealogical charts and noting how often there are elder, often unnamed, sisters. It also made it easier for Denethor to bear the idea of a child when he is so ambivalent. When he has to confront the fact that he has a boy, he tries to distance himself from his son, but quickly succumbs to Boromir's considerable charms.
I'm glad that Denethor and Wren have made peace of a sort ... And I was meanly glad when Denethor went to see Ectheleon to comply with Wren's request.
The emotional situation of the Steward's house will get a lot messier before it gets better. Actually, I'm not sure it does get better for certain people.
Great stuff with Denethor and Aragorn too. I'm not even sure how to comment on it except to say that it was almost amusing to see the two intelligent men alternately frustrating and helping each other.
I just want to slap them both sometimes. They come so close to an alliance, but can't bridge that last gap in their trust.
Thanks for the comments!

Um, Ang? I hate to bring this to your attention, but you are the author. It's kinda up to you if they trust each other or not.

Ah, the joy that the child is here along with the surprise that it is male rather than the expected daughter. And all others rejoice as well at the news of this safe birth! May it be as well with Aeluin!
And he cannot find Laanga's door when he's not wanted there? Interesting. Another Maia in disguise? He doesn't appear to be Radagast or one of the blue ones, so which is he? But he knows his business--that is good. A blessed one sent from Far Harad, apparently....
