Thank you for posting this at last. I'm utterly wrung out, having read all the updates over the last two days (while at work!). It really is the most tremendous work - explaining and illuminating so much, and your knowledge and extrapolation of the societies you describe is wonderful.
Thank you.

Dear Anglachel,
Thank you for publishing the remaining chapters. I read the rest all the way through, I couldn't stop! Great ending that kept me on the edge of my seat & although Alquallë's fate was known from the start, it was no less heart breaking.
Thanks again for sharing this story. Of course, it's worth reading several times again. I'll be leaving more detailed reviews to each chapter when real life lets up a bit.

He does not realize that humility and humiliation are two very different things. But for the moment he will remain, and what he does will be what is necessary.
It has been good to finish this at last, although it has consumed several days and leaves me ill prepared for the morrow.
A few years ago I watched my husband die--suddenly, although we'd been waiting for the end for some months. No matter how well you think you are ready, the end is still a great shock. And dear, prideful Denethor thought his own grief greater than that of any other; that he might simply give up when what must come did so. I understand him at the same time I grieve he must know such a loss.
As another has said, we can see how he became what he was in LOTR. And it was not through water he came to her at last, but through fire....
...silly one.

It has been particularly interesting to read others' comments on this story, as it made such an impact of me and seems to be doing so on all who read it.
Once again, a beautifully written explicatory back story.
