I had to reread the ending before I understood that it wasn't a non-sequitur. For the main part of the story, you kept the tone humorous and lighthearted, so I actually forgot that the four friends were extremely depressed in the beginning. This isn't a criticism - that implied inconsistency of tone actually makes the ending that much more effective! Great job, especially with the mystery liquor.
(Got any ideas as to what ingredients actually go into Dalish Whisky?)

Writing this story was quite a challenge, precisely because of that shaky balance between humour and despair. I'm glad it worked for you!
If you look at Adaneth's comment, I think she described what Dwarvish whisky is like very well: triple distilled, and more than a wee dram is absolutely lethal. It needs to be watered down to be more or less harmless...
