Each story seems better than the one before!
"Then, there glided in the last rays of the setting sun the ugliest bird ever seen." This line was profoundly funny, coming when it did, but profoundly uplifting at the same time. A moment's free-fall followed by a sudden surge on an updraft.
I'm glad he kept the feathers.
