Oh my. The sheer talent behind this entire story takes my breath away. I have never read anything that depicts the Feanorians or daily life in Valinor as real and as clear and as complex and as RIGHT as this story you are writing.
"You tell me that the sound of water inspires you, so I build you a fountain. You receive an invitation to an audition and the desire in your eyes takes my breath, so I send you to Alqualondë. I was given a baby son with a voice greater than that of the Valar, so I put a harp in his hands. Do you think I am not proud of you, Macalaurë?"
This last scene just stabbed at my heart, and almost made me cry (which is unheard of). Never before have I been moved to feel real empathy or even pity (although that is not the right word…this is why I am a reader and not a writer J ) for Feanor. Just beautiful.
