Ch. 40: Chapter Forty--Maitimo
Beautiful chapter. But I do sort of want to shake Maedhros—he's young, brilliant, gorgeous and we all know, bright as she is, that the girl isn't good enough for him (my motherly instincts coming to the fore here!). The sex scene and all of the emotion and angst surrounding his sexuality and body image is among the most powerful, if not the most, that I have ever read (in addition to the fact that the physical description is intense).
I love the way you draw Finwë—that he is one who can offer hope through his solidity. Your version is such a strong character. Like the conflict relating to Maedhros's responses to Indris and Fingolfin—ring very true to life. For the second chapter running, the relationship between the two cousins is amazingly constructed. The lullaby for little Fingon at the end of the chapter transported me straight to the cliffs of Thangorodrim.
