Ch. 41: Chapter Forty-One--Maitimo

I like how Maitimo is slowly being forced to go through the almost exact same process that Findekano was, namely, seeing what life is like for the other side of the family. He slowly learning that, yes, his step-grandmother and half-cousin's family are indeed real people who are not bent soley on making Feanor's life miserable. I hope to see more of this, particularly since one of his most famous roles is that of a peace maker between the then Fingolfin and the rest of Feanor's people. While he occupies the position of lord, he consitantly displays an unusual degree of understanding and tolerance towards elves who are hostile towards the feanorians...his comments about Thingol, for instance.

Ch. 41: Chapter Forty-One--Maitimo

I am really pleased to see Vorondil fleshed out here and for the rather aloof (publicly) Maitimo to see him as he is- its a wonderful glimpse beyond the family and of course later, he IS important in the Silm. I like hte fact that Maitimo is flawed too- by that slighter but still Feanorian arrogance and contempt for those less gifted than their father.

You write so accurately and well, with perfect precision - I rather think of you as Feanor as a wordsmith, turning each phrase this way and that to examine its effect, nodding approval and placing it deftly on the page...effortlessly careful.
