Interesting idea - yes, the sight of snow surely isn't the most pleasant one for Grinding ice survivors.

I originally thought it had something to do with Arwen proving that she can knit socks for Aragorn but now that I think about it I think that was in reference to Linda Hoyland's "A Woman's Touch".
