Oh, nice! This is a wonderful addition to the [x]-takes-the-Ring genre. I never would have imagine this character as tempted, but his canonical character actually makes this very possible. While he's not outright evil, he definitely has his darker side.

I told others about how amazingly chilling and excellent this tale was, and then forgot to tell you. 
Sorry I am late with my praise for your story!
I thought this was one of the most frightening tales I have ever read -- it is simply so plausible! The possibility that is suggested at the end is definitely a logical conclusion, but so very chilling to contemplate. Well done! I shall never look at Old Man Willow the same again!
