Hi, Nath,
Just had to make a quick comment. I've become very fond of Thengel and 'had' to read this short piece. Great job. My favorite line - 'Had he stayed, by now he might well have been either a living usurper or a dead rebel...'
The entire tale was an excellent rendition of a rather earth-shattering day. I loved the beginning - the middle - and the end!

Aw Nath, I really like this vignette! You manage to round out the character of Thengel very nicely -- and indirectly also Fengel -- with a few deft words and behaviors. I especially enjoyed seeing Thengel wielding his clearly well-developed and considerable diplomatic skills... that his father so clearly lacked.
And what a shock at the end! So much conveyed in so few words....
Very nicely done!
