Hand to Hand

As painful as this chapter is for me, all I can say is: Good for Dírmaen. Excellent job on the alternating PoVs, showing much misunderstanding between the two - largely bred by... a sort of lack of self-esteem where the other is concerned, is the best way I can think of to express it.
Practical Saelon, back to business as usual. Is that repressed feeling, or true lack of it? I suppose only time will tell... :)
Thanks for a wonderful - if melancholy - addition to the story, Adaneth!

I don't know why, but this chapter really made me cry...I'm hopeless romantic and the sense of loss of Dirmaen's thoughts made me feel sad for him, I really loved the way that you wrote his thoughts, how he see her and how he didn't want to rule her, only share and protect...ironic that in his mind, he compares himself with a horse, one less in her stables and Saelon is thinking to pay for his job with horses...I suppose that this is the end of Dirmaen and Saelon romance, he will have to treasure the few happiness moments to the end of his life...To see him leaving, almost in secrecy to wherever the Chieftain send him break my heart, make me think how many people miss their chance for happiness because the circumstances, because despite all, I understand why this match is not possible...Unless Saelon delivers the horses herself and we have a second opportunity, I doubt it....and I know that she is a practical woman, but does she have to be that cold?
I'll be waiting more chapters, but it will be sad not to have Dirmaen around, I for sure will miss him...
Thanks,
Fantasia

Adaneth,
Well, while I was not looking for a sappy love story, this new chapter left me devastated. I understand that people used to marry for other reasons than loving each other. Yet why then is Dírmaen so starry-eyed? My heart goes out to him. Other than that, your narrative style is as superb as ever!

*pats shoulder* There, there, Elrûn--and you, too, Fantasia. Be strong.

I really shouldn't say, DKP, should I?
The best of the holiday season to one and all!
