Ch. 2: East of the Mountains

We know that Gandalf did have a hidden source of strength. Although I appreciate that since he failed to fall in this case he would feel indeed that something was seriously amiss, and that he sees that feeling of wrongness being focused on Frodo is interesting. A great evil may indeed survive due to the saving of Gandalf in this case.

But I especially loved the image of Aragorn "trotting" down the trail, considering the original character intended to guide Frodo from Bree to Rivendell! Heh!
