Ch. 36: Sons of The House of Hurin
A terrible thing to have seen, to be certain; and how it will impact the possible rescue of Frodo and Sam in the end we cannot yet say.
I rejoice that at this late date the memory of his lost love makes itself felt, and Denethor himself has managed what Gandalf did in the original. Hooray! Love that! Now, as to what wil happen next....

Thanks Larner-- you always manage to see the specific detail that might alter the future most profoundly. Yes, this awful fate for Gandalf could indeed interfere with the rescue at Mt. Doom. But essentially, this AU asks, what if Gandalf the White never came to be...and how might the Fellowship (and others) fill in the roles he played? Case in point: Denethor to the rescue! And I promise, others will appear as the need arises, in all sorts of crises...
