What an elegant, mean little story. I hope you're proud of yourself. (I'll just bet you are.)

One nitpick could be that there is absolutely no sympathizing with Earnur. He's a complete and total turkey. But I think that's your point: he comes across that way in the legendarium as well. This story expands nicely on the entire incident. Great crafting on canon, with a chilling little end.
