One of the best Thranduil/Wood-elves stories I've read, and an outstanding story too - and what a wonderful twist at the end! Not to mention the tie-in to the fall of Isildur at the Gladden Fields.
Well done!

Jael,
it is so lovely to see this story finally up here!
The question of how Thranduil and his Elves would have taken te loss of Isildur - and what he carried - so shortly after they had fought so bitter and long a war about that very item, has always been a fascinating one for me. That siege lasted quite some time; at least the leaders must have known that Isildur had taken the Ring and refused to destroy it afterwards.
You give us here a lovely view at the Elvenking's first reaction, as well as a believable and compelling look at the woodmen who witnessed Isildur's fate at this point of time. And the end of the story is very fitting, too. Nicely tiedied up! ;)
Thank you for writings and sharing!

Ah--but I find I truly enjoyed this one! And the horses of the Mark owe their strength in part to Thranduil's steeds, eh?
Excellent!
