AU tales of Halbarad's survival are my very favorite, and you've done an excellent job tying that wish to a canon explanation. Bravo!

This, I think, the first thing I have read that keeps Halbarad alive, and yet fits so neatly into canon because there is good reason for him to have not fulfilled his own prophecy.

I'll admit to having a liking for AUs and more than a bit of a soft spot for Halbarad, so writing a 'Halbarad lives' story myself that is AU yet still rooted in canon was something I'd been thinking about for some time.
