Mmm... a topic near and dear to my heart. Nature vs nurture, and who is to blame? Love the concept that just one word -- and perhaps a deep collective memory of the shimmering sight -- can be so soothing. Given our modern world concept of "nature deprivation syndrome" and its consequences in our own versions of Angband, how far have we really come, and who is our Melkor? Have we met "him", and is "he" us? See how much your short vignette sparked in me!
