Description:
"Of old he was of the kin of Thingol, but he was restless and ill at ease in Doriath, and when the Girdle of Melian was set about the Forest of Region... he fled thence to Nan Elmoth. There he lived in deep shadow, loving the night and the twilight under the stars. He shunned [and hated] the Noldor... but for the Dwarves he had more liking than any other of the Elvenfolk of old." According to one text in War of the Jewels (HoMe 11, Part Three, Maeglin ), he was a tall Elf.
Eöl invented the metal galvorn, "as hard as the steel of the Dwarves, but so malleable that he could make it thin and supple; and yet it remained resistant to all blades and darts." He also forged the swords Anguirel and Anglachel.
He tried to slay his own son, but killed his wife instead, and was executed for it by Turgon, King of Gondolin.
