Description:
"Fingolfin was his father's son: tall, dark and proud", The Peoples of Middle-earth (HoMe 12), Last Writings, 'The Shibboleth of Feanor' ). In The Silmarillion (QS, Ch. 18 - 'Of the Ruin of Beleriand and the Fall of Fingolfin') he is described as "most proud and valiant of the Elven-kings of old". He challenged Morgoth to mortal combat before the gates of Angband, which he lost, but not before giving his opponent a crippling wound in the foot.
Fingolfin's sword was called Ringil, his horse Rochallor, his colours were blue and silver.
